PowerSchool access for parents (Wake County Schools)

This is a question for the parents in the area. I need to get access to my kids grades, since they're not exactly great at remembering to share them, but I'm not sure what the best way to go about doing that (I've got a 6th grader). I tried contacting the Homeroom teacher, and they said I need to get into Powerschool, but I never got a login for that when school started. Should I just contact the school and get it? Or do I need to go through the teacher again?
