Mitigation Options?
My home was built in 1937, has a stone foundation, sealed with dry lock, and is surprisingly tight and clean. When I purchchased it 6 years ago the radon level was an average of 2.5 pci. I recently built out a man cave in the basement, which is a walkout, and has a couple of windows. I recently bought an air things radon test machine at Home Depot, the current average is at 2.6pci. Since I’ll be spending more time in the basement I thought it’s finally time for some mitigation, and has a professional come out. They thought a typical system wouldn’t work as it’s likely all sand beneath my basement floor and recommend an air exchange system…. For $2500. I’m more than capable of hanging a unit and running some duct work. What are the best units, what is the best place to shop and research the units? I’m also due to upgrade my ac compressor, is it possible to utilize the new compressor and the central air duct work for this? Appreciate any recommendations. Located in CT if that matters at all.
