Help with a boarding question
So my boyfriend and I are at a disagreement a bit about what to do and I’m hoping to get some help.
3 weeks ago we adopted the best 5 month old cavapoo. He has been a struggle but in the best puppy way.
We both turn 30 in June and we have a rotating door of family/activities for about 7-8 days including a 4 night stint at a hotel.
We obviously need to board our pup for those 4 nights we are at a hotel. But when we come back we will still have people visiting who want to go see some sites as well as go out to dinner. Basically we have not had success leaving our pup home alone for long periods of time. We are working on it, but I don’t really want him home alone. I know we will have some late nights and so my thought is to board him for the full 8 days so that he has someone around. We found a very nice lady on Rover who can watch him at her house. She has great reviews and he will be the only dog there with just her which means a lot of attention. We did a meet and greet today and all went well.
My bf doesn’t think we should be boarding a puppy this long (basically a Saturday- following Sunday). I would rather not stress about schedules and later nights and miss out (I am the primary carer of the dog so I know it would be me missing things).
I feel guilty leaving for so long, but I also think it will be ok? He will be 6 1/2 months by the time this occurs.
What are your thoughts? Is this too long to board a puppy? TYIA
