Good faith question with cites: Would IUD’s be seen as murder?
Hi!
I am pro-choice, as a disclaimer. However, this question is asked in good faith, I am simply trying to understand the ideology of the other side of the argument.
So research studies show that in a number of cases, although somewhat rarely, IUD’s will allow fertilisation but prevent implantation of the fertilised foetus (cites: Hutchings et al., 1985; ESHRE Capri Workshop Group, 2008; Goldstruck and Wildemeersch, 2015; Baron, 2024).
From what I understand of pro-life ideology, people believe that: (A) life begins at fertilisation, and (B) the removal of a fertilised fetus is murder.
Would this mean that people with IUD’s would be viewed as murders as well?
Again: THIS QUESTION IS ASKED IN GOOD FAITH. I’m a scientific researcher, and I’m simply attempting to understand the other viewpoint. I am hoping for a civilised, fair comments section where we do not attack each other for having different ideologies.
