PMI / Transformation job in PE
Do PEs typically have a role leading PMI (post-merger integration) or transformation activities for their portfolio companies? I don’t mean financial, but operational role.
Context: I have worked in BCG for many years exclusively on PMIs, and currently work for a PE-owned IT company who has a goal of integrating 10 small companies into a global IPO-ready player (typical consolidation PE play). My role is focused fully on coordinating the integration activities: PMO of workstreams, design on roadmap and activistic involvement wherever needed (org chart design, decision on IT platforms…).
I am wondering whether this is role which PEs typically have, or whether it is rare that a PE would get involved operationally.
