Finally Accepted! ðŸ˜
Finally Accepted! ðŸ˜
It’s been a long hard journey and my path has been all over the place. Reddit has made me feel like I have others I can look to for help for so long and I really appreciate all the support. From starting out in the MCAT section to applying and reapplying. I constantly doubted myself and wondered if I’m just dream chasing for too long and should quit.
I just wanted to give everyone hope that if I was able to get accepted you are too. 15+ W’s, F’s and D’s on transcript. many gaps in education, 3.1x GPA, lower science gpa, majority of pre reqs in community college. First in family to go to college, coming from a family of immigrants. If there was a red flag I had it, but it’s true what so many ppl say about the past doesn’t matter as long as you can show improvement and recent success. First cycle had 3 II’s all WL and didn’t get off the list. As a CA ORM it’s been rough. This cycle applied day one and have had 9 II’s so far and 3 A’s! I am beyond humbled and blessed by this whole process and I can’t believe I am going to be a doctor after thinking this was just a distant dream for so long. Thank you again to everyone who helped and kept me motivated!
What I think helped me:
- Reapplied day 1, and enrolled in SMP
- Updated every school that had not sent me an interview with my fall SMP grades (3.4) and recent activities in Feb.
- received 4 II’s within a week just by sending update! Don’t let ppl tell you adcoms don’t look at updates much because my advisor gave me this bad advice.
- Every acceptance came from an interview from Feb-March. Don’t let ppl say it’s only for WL spot, be confident and do your best in that interview because you never know!
- put a lot of weight on the MCAT and only wanted to take it once. Score a balanced 510 which isn’t the best but I’m proud of.
