HCG number too high

I found out I was pregnant a week ago today. We conceived after the first try and I was over the moon.

Called to schedule an appointment with OB. They wanted to do blood work to find out exactly how far along I am. Friday 10/27 my hcg was 108 mIU/mL, nurse called and said that was a good number and told me to go get blood work done again on Monday and then we could schedule my first appointment. Come to find out, my hcg number on Monday 10/30, was over 200,000 mIU/mL. The nurse called and told me this is abnormal and I need to come in for an ultrasound. I’m doing that today.

From what I’ve read, this isn’t a good sign and I’ve been an absolute mess since Monday. I just don’t understand how it’s even physically possible for the hcg to multiply 2000x in 72 hours. Has anyone had experience with this? I’m just terrified and trying to prepare myself :(

EDIT: Thank you all so much. My OB retested hcg yesterday 11/1, and it was around 3,700. So the 200,000 value was definitely a lab error! Thank goodness 🥹
