What’s for dinner, and what’s it, part 2

That's supposed to say "and what's it COST."

I posted this question a couple weeks ago. Let's revisit.

Tonight I'm making corned beef and cabbage, with potatoes and carrots. I was appalled at the cost of the corned beef!! $13.50 for a 2.5 pound corned beef, which I know is about half fat. Potatoes continue to be a bargain; I paid $4.99 for a 10 pound bag. Cabbage was $2.35 for 2.5 pound head. Not sure on the carrots--they've been in the fridge for a while, but I'm guessing about $1.50 or less. Brownies from a mix for dessert--$1.99 for the mix, plus $1 for the egg and oil.

So, about $20 for the meal for two, but we'll have at least one more meal each of

leftovers, I think. Probably more, so not bad.
