not sure if i have an infection…

i have an old ear lobe piercing that has closed up a little for over a year. the other day, i just checked to see if its fully closed and put some earrings in and to my surprise, it fit.

so i kept it in for a few days, it felt a bit itchy but nothing else. today i checked it and the back of the earring was almost being swallowed by my ear, i quickly managed to get it out, but the area is now dark and there’s a bump in the back.

the piercing doesn’t hurt at all though, it’s not warm to the touch and no pus came out (only blood initially)

should i still get this checked out at the doctors or treat it at home?
