What is the “controversy” behind clapping during stash?

I’ve been a phish fan for a while, and At MSGs 4 night run in 2024, I saw a whole lot of shirts saying, “ I don’t clap during stash,” and when they played stash live the person in front of us told his friend to not clap. What is the reason for people not wanting to clap?
