Car insurance tips? (Broken tooth)

I recently found out my cat Lucky broke his tooth after trying to brush his teeth. Unfortunately, I rarely do this for him because he gets frustrated. I believe it has been a week or two since his tooth broke. I noticed he’s been eating less dry food and no longer likes chicken filets.

I read online that he may need to have it extracted or have a root canal done. I need help finding pet insurance for him. I’ve heard pet insurances don’t cover pre-existing issues - would this be the case? What should I do? Any help is appreciated!
