Transportation between Paris airports and the city
I've traveled to many airports worldwide, and honestly, the transportation between Parisian airports (both ORY and CDG) and the city has to be some of the worst I've experienced.
First off, public transport is ridiculously expensive. If you're traveling alone, maybe it's somewhat acceptable, but as a couple, it's a rip-off. A ticket on Line 14 costs €12 per person, so for two people, that's €24. Meanwhile, a Bolt or Uber to my apartment costs around €25 total. How does that make any sense?
But price is not the only issue - in the past three years I've been living here, I've faced RER B maintenance at least four times. Every time I think it's going to be smooth, there's some issue. Can't say anything about line 14, it's new and it seems to work well, it's just too expensive to what it offers.
I don't understand one thing - WHY on earth do Uber and Bolt work so terribly at these airports? EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I try to get a ride from CDG or ORY, it's a complete disaster. The first time it happened, I assumed I must've messed up, maybe waiting at the wrong spot. But then I learned my lesson and started following the "VTC - Taxi réservés" signs, but it didn't help
Yesterday I landed at ORY, Terminal 3, followed all the ride app signs that led me to a parking lot, opened Bolt, selected Terminal 3 as the pickup point. At first, I had to wait for around 10 minutes to get some driver selected. However, the driver came to the terminal 1 in the end, despite the fact that I clearly selected terminal 3 as a pick up point in the app. He waited there for a few minutes, then canceled the ride. Then I tried to open Uber, but it didn't even let me select the pickup spot I was actually standing at! It allowed two options - terminal 4 and what they called "terminal 1-3", but it was clearly located near terminal 1 and it was the last thing I wanted to go.
Frustrated, I decided to take the metro, but guess what? I couldn't buy an airport ticket via my phone because I had a few t+ tickets loaded, and apparently, you can't have multiple types of tickets on your mobile at the same time. Ended up waiting in a massive queue for at least 20 minutes just to buy a ticket.
Am I the only one this pissed off about how badly organized the transportation is between Paris airports and the city? Is taking an official taxi waiting right at the airport and paying almost double the price of an Uber or Bolt is the only hassle-free option to get into the city?
