Why are Pakistanis so nadeeda?

I've always wondered - why are Pakistanis so nadeeda (no word in english describes this better) about food? especially when someone else is paying or its a shaadi or something.

For those at work and school - the whole 'treat do treat do', i mean its just food, we have it 3 times a day, I honestly fail to see the excitement about it.

When we go to shadis - people just rummaging for food, filling plates to the brim, eating till they almost pass out and can't walk back without letting out 37 burps.

When someone else does give a treat - ordering so much, constantly trying to rack up a huge bill - it's such a festival. The only discussion is food, food, food and more food. Just pure voraciousness.

I mean its such a basic physiological need - why be so obsessed about it.

I'm not a foodie, I only eat to live and can have whatever without being picky and also not from here either so I've always wondered.

And it's not because they can't afford it either, or they've never had it, I've seen well-to-do people be so excited about free food, free juices at hotels and the whole - jitna khaana hai kha lo. I mean utna hi khao gay na jo pait main jaye ga.

I've always seen going out for food as a medium to indulge in other discussions, maybe art, history, travel, culture etc.

Oh and on that note - them claiming to be foodies and loving food but so terrified of trying new cuisines, calling arab food pheeka, or authentic chinese food stinky, salads as ghaas phoos etc. If you were such a big foodie as claimed, you'd love all food, not just pizza and burgers and karhai wouldn't you?

So why are Pakistanis so goddamn nadeeda?! ITS JUST FOOD.
