Any idea in what this strange sound effect is? (And how to remove it?)

I opened up lazer earlier today, and it needed to update, so I downloaded it and restarted the game, but when I started playing I'd notice that at certain points in every map, it'd male this EXTREMELY loud noise, sounds like splashing water. I thought it may have been something to do with the skin I was using somehow, but I changed skin several times and each one did it. It seriously throws me off my game, and the only way to stop it is to turn effects volume down, but then I can't hear the hitsounds.
