Book recommendations

Any recommendations for an easy read novel to read over the next few days? Bonus points if they are from an irish author!

Something that is easy enough to read / follow but is captivating enough that it will be read with relative ease.

I really enjoy historical novels and crime novels.

The great train robbery by michael Crichton was perfect imo. I've read all the sherlock holmes stuff. Tv shows like the wire and breaking bad are the best tv shows ever made imo.

Im currently listening to john connolly books driving to work but they are a bit too gruesome for the christmas breaks.

I haven't read any sally rooney stuff but from what I hear she is the gold standard in fiction atm but is her stuff easy to follow for a bit of easy christmas reading?
