ADHD and shared care agreements

Hello all!

This has 100% been asked before but I’m hoping to get some up-to-date answers. I was diagnosed with ADHD a couple of weeks ago by Dr Bunn who wrote up a shared care agreement for medication to take to my GP.

When I did they refused to work with it because they don’t do shared care agreements with private practitioners, I asked about it and they said it’s a “Northern Ireland policy”. Is this true or is just a Northern Trust thing? (There was no offer to refer me within the NHS either so I assume they’re still not diagnosing adults.)

I’m on the waitlist for Dr Bunn’s recommended private GP (Vitalis in Belfast) and I know there’s a medication shortage at the moment but I can’t afford to be paying £100 plus a month for medication!
