How to enjoy these games?
I'm going through Ninja Gaiden Sigma right now and I just don't understand how to enjoy the game. The game doesn't tell you anything about itself at all. I've read the guide in the anchored post of this subreddit, I've learned all the mechanics described there (wind run, wind path, onlanding ut's, redirect jump's (whose input is as non-obvious and awkward as possible), etc.).
but I still suffer in this game on a regular basis. I've seen hundreds of videos of what a cool game it is, how people are constantly moving around the arena, doing crowd control, constantly attacking and they're doing it perfectly. If I try to replicate something like that - I immediately take tons of damage and have to sit in a block for half the fight without moving, but at the same time opponents have grabs that are almost impossible to react to, the controls seem insanely wooden, the slightest deviation in input leads to absolutely unpredictable consequences = taking huge damage and losing. How to play these games properly and have fun? After completely playing all of DMC and GoW I've been craving an action game that encourages the most efficient approach possible, and like the Ninja Gaiden games are just what I needed, but why am I just not able to enjoy them? (And yes, i know that this is skill issue etc. just want any advice)
