Is homeostasis the sole purpose to life?

This idea of homeostasis being the sole purpose of life seems to make the most sense. But then, yet again, life doesn’t really make sense.

I mean, according to contemporary scientific understanding, spontaneously as the result of chemical and physical processes, life exists. We see it in the animal kingdom. Organisms function for the sole purpose of maintaining themselves through homeostasis. Life replicates it self, seen with RNA replication, animal reproduction, viruses, and more. All maintaining homeostasis, sustaining itself through physiological processes. Can the same be said for the mind and body? Isn't inner peace just homeostasis?

People suffer because of a mismatch between what they expect and what they want, echoed in Buddhism. That is literally just the definition of wanting homeostasis: an organism wanting stability.

I mean, what else is there? Am I missing something? Is there no meaning to existence besides homeostasis and modulating a balance of internal mental states?

Is self-transcendence and Enlightment just the ability to consistently achieve inner peace, homeostasis? Why else do they seem so chill then?

Isn’t despair just a mental state resulting from a mismatch in internalized expectations? Maybe it is best to just exist in peace regardless of existential truths or lies, accept it or not, and pursue what brings joy and inner peace regardless. Maybe this is all there is in an absurd universe.
