Eunuchs in Mumbai
The Harassment by Eunuchs in Mumbai needs to stop
Yesterday, on my way back from the office, a eunuch entered the train compartment and started asking for money. Usually, I give a coin out of pity, but this time I genuinely didn’t have any and politely refused. Instead of moving on, the person grabbed my nose hard, spoke in an extremely vulgar manner, and left. That unwanted touch felt so wrong—I can't even put it into words. It made my blood boil. Who tf gave them the license to touch people aggressively. I am done giving anything to them from now on.
This isn't the first time I've witnessed or experienced such behavior. Many people in Mumbai face this almost daily—harassment, aggressive begging, and inappropriate physical contact. If you refuse, they don’t just ask again; they curse, touch, or even threaten you. It's an open secret that they target passengers in trains, traffic signals, and public places, exploiting people’s fear of confrontation or superstition.
Why is nothing being done about this? Why are we expected to just "give in" to avoid trouble? I understand that they may have limited opportunities, but that doesn't justify this kind of intimidation.
Have others faced similar experiences? Is there any way to report such incidents effectively without it becoming a waste of time? I feel even the police authorities avoid them or avoid taking a case.
