help using key detection to create bass lines

Hey I watched a video malo made showing using key detection of a sample to find the correct key. Then he shows you can open the bassline plugin and select the same key there and the yellow pads should work with the sample. This has successfully worked for me once and basically every other time I try it I can’t get the bass to sound right. What are your tips to make this work? Thanks!
