Caddo Lake Explained

Highly recommend this movie but I thought I’d share my take since it was pretty confusing.

Here is my timeline but keep in mind that because of the phenomenon in the lake with the water levels, all of these times exist simultaneously. It’s shrodinger’s cat.

1952: an 8 year old Anna, who has recently gone missing from the head 2022 and has fallen into a time warp is rescued by Paris, who is also in the warp trying to figure out what happened to his deceased mother. He leaves her there and she starts a life, becoming a teacher and taking on the name Anna Lang. she had a son, Paris

1999: a 55 year old Anna is killed while having a “seizure” while drowning. Paris, her son, is consumed with the idea that she was misdiagnosed and becomes stuck in the time warp by accident. Paris has been seeing Celeste.

2005: Paris is kissing and Celeste has his baby, Ellie.

2022: Celeste and a grownup Ellie live with 8 year old Anna and her father. Celeste believes Paris left her. Anna goes missing and is trapped in the time loop where she goes to 1952. Ellie goes looking for her and also becomes trapped, going backwards.

2005: Ellie goes back to 05 and sees Anna’s necklace in young Celeste’s car. She realizes that she is seeing herself as a baby. She also realizes that Anna is her grandmother and the mother of her missing father. Ellie finds that Anna lived a happy life.

2022: Paris becomes stuck in 2022. He realizes that he is now a suspect in his 8 year old mother’s disappearance. He dies trying to get back to the time warp. Ellie makes it back to 2022 and tells her mom about Paris.
