How much jail time would Thelma and Louise get?

“Thelma & Louise” is a great movie … though upon repeat viewings I’ve always wondered just how much trouble those ladies are in … at least, well, before they were pulled over and then locked a police officer in the trunk of his own car, then blow up a fuel tanker, then are pursued in a high-speed chase by half of the state police.

For most of the movie, Hal (Harvey Keitel) tries to talk them into turning themselves in, which suggests they’re going to face consequences, but perhaps not significant time in prison — especially early in the movie.

Does anyone have an educated guess as to the possible jail time either woman would’ve faced?
