What’s your experience getting stopped by police?

I’ll share my one and only story of how I was stopped once.

Sweden. I was riding to another city about 2-3 hours away. It was towards the end of my first season riding and I had a black GSXR1000. I was in full leather gear and since it was highway riding my speed was gradually increasing during the entire ride and it was also soon getting dark and I only had my black visor on so I wanted to reach before dark.

I see some blue lights far ahead but I realize they are on the other side of the 4-lane highway and the traffic was separated so I figured that they wouldn’t be able to chase me anyway so I just kept my speed at around 280km/h and pushed on. Not too much later however my exit is about to come up so I slow down and ride like an adult from there on. I take the exit and just before I reach the next road an MC cop suddenly cuts in front of me and I just barely manage to stop without crashing into him or the rail.

I turn off the bike, get off, take my helmet and headphones off. A plain cop car with two more guys catch up and park behind us. My heart obviously pounding pretty hard at this point. At first the MC cop is a bit stern and asks if I knew how fast I was going, but quite soon he and the others are just really chill, check out my bike and ask just random questions about the bike and my riding. One of them said he used to have the same bike but sold it when he became a traffic police. And advised me to seek out a track if I wanted to ride this fast in the future.

The final verdict was that I had to pay a fine equivalent of $350 USD. Apparently my license plate had fallen off without me noticing, but they didn’t give me any trouble for that, and they couldn’t book me for more than going 160km/h because they didn’t get a reading and Swedish police is only allowed to chase at max 160 and he could see me being faster than that while he was chasing. All in all we all shook hands and they sent me on my merry way, they also gave me a paper about the plate to show other police in case I got stopped again before getting home.
