Possible to port HD Collection Saves to Master Collection?

Since both the MG1+2, MGS2, and MGS3 ports in the master collection are the HD collection versions of the game, has anyone tried to get HD collection save files working with the master collection versions?

The save files appeared to start with the same headers, but are slightly different in length when I checked myself.
