Very mid meeting with advisor
Hello fellow students,
I haven't been feeling my best since the start of the semester due to a lot of personal reasons and since I had a breakdown last week, my family encouraged me to use the wellness resources that McGill offers to get some much needed help. I decided to book an appointment with an access advisor, and sadly I came out indifferent if not worse after an hour and a half. The access advisor felt disconnected from what I was telling them, and I didn't feel heard. They kept asking what my reasons were to request an appointment even after me giving a whole list which made me feel invalidated. They were making very "chatgpt" like recommendations regarding my anxiety and even after telling them that I have been to therapy for years and I need new resources or help finding new ways to manage such a period of my life, they told me to breathe and drink water more... I know that they are doing the best they can, but with a 90-minute appointment I was expecting to walk out of it feeling supported and with at least more than a CLSC website link for mental health support. Is there anyone who knows if the wellness hub has a long wait time for therapist? I just need someone to talk to and help me out figuring what I am going through :)
