Insanity Achievements Inquiry

I'm currently achievement hunting MELE on Steam and approaching the final hurdle. Can I unlock the Insanity I, II, and III achievements by changing the difficulty of my current save file and starting a NG+ on it? Or does it have to be a fresh ME3 Shep?
