Stagecoach/metrolink smartcard compatibility

Anyone else keeps getting their smart card (ie get me there, bee card e.t.c) declined on stagecoach/magic buses or the metrolink when them change from one to the other?

When I tap out on the tram to get a bus, the reader says "card already in use". From bus to tram, the reader says "declined". I just end up showing the receipt all the time.

The really annoying thing is that it only happens when I use a stagecoach and magic bus at some point in a journey. It's fine on the bee network , GNW and all other buses.

I have an anybus and tram all zone ticket on there and I honestly don't see the point in a smartcard if I have to show the receipt all the time 🤷
