What to Wear for Father's Funeral
Hi r/ MFA. First time posting, as I'm in a bit of a bind. My father passed away recently, and I'll need to get something to wear to the funeral on this coming Thursday March 13th.
For reference, I'm in Canada (Hamilton, Ontario region, about 45 min away from Toronto). My family is fairly traditional, but there was no specific instruction from my dad on what to wear. Just things that are fairly respectful.
Right now in my closet, all I have is a light grey suit, fairly off the rack: https://imgur.com/a/SXffibR (picture from 2019)
I've read a lot of advice in other posts suggesting to keep things pretty straight forward. Get a dark charcoal suit, white shirt, and a dark plain tie (like navy blue, no pattern).
Since I also intend on being a pallbearer, is dark charcoal still the way to go, or should I be getting black at this point?
If dark charcoal is recommended, I'll probably purchase since I know it would be a fairly standard suit to wear in future. If black is the way to go, then I'll see about a rental, if anyone even does that.
As for shoes, I only have the brown pair at the moment. I'll buy a pair of black shoes as I need a replacement anyway.
