Thinking of upgrading from 2018 Mac Mini (i5) to M4—What can I expect?

Hi all 👋🏼

I currently have a 2018 Mac Mini with an i5 processor, 64GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage. I’m considering upgrading to the new M4 Mac Mini, but with base spec—16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

My use case is relatively light: I typically have 5-10 Safari tabs open, handle emails, the odd document formatting, and frequently join Zoom calls. Given my workflow, will I notice a significant improvement in performance, or could the reduced RAM and storage be a bottleneck?

Would love to hear from anyone who has made a similar jump or has insight into how the M4 performs for basic tasks. Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated!
