Is there any chance apple fixes this for free?

As you can see I have a nice little crack on the bottom left part of my M2 screen. I have no idea how it even happened. I opened it one day and it was like this. My theory is that it was packed too tight in my backpack (which is honestly ridiculous if that’s how it happened).

I’m wondering if there’s any chance Apple fixes this for free via “warranty”, or manufacturing defect or something if I go in there and say I have no idea how this happened blah blah. I know the answer is probably an astounding no.

No way I’m spending $700 on a new screen for this laptop which was $1,200. I was quoted by a third party repair shop for $350, so I might just take the gamble and go with that.

Just want to know if it’s even worth it to take this into the Apple Store and try to muster up some tears for empathy or something.
