Do Palantirs have a similar attraction that draws people to them like the ring?

I am rewatching again and being part of this community made me think so much deeper in a lot of things happening in the books and movies.

So - in Return of the King Pippin is doing his annoying shenanigans as always, driving Gandalf mad. One of these is taking the Palantir and “using” it.

Was he just curious or are these magic objects abled to attract in the same way the ring does? Or was it someone “on the other side” of another Palantir attracting him to it?
