Wtf is a cultivator

I am new to Litrpg and I’ve read infinite realm twice and I’m a bit into the wandering inn, but I wanted to read some with a strong MC with cool powers fighting but I’ve started a few on RR where the person is already a cultivator and it feels like I’m supposed to have some knowledge on what that is already becuase like 10 chapters in and they don’t explain what cultivation is so I’m just left confused

In infinite realm it was a set path of power given by the system and the person is initially presented with 3 options of power. So is it the same just like people who are weak in their world until they do it for a long time and get super strong or is it a certain type of power system?
