Subreddit conduct and the limits of safe spaces
Hello everyone. After some consideration, we have decided to private the sub to prevent further brigading. This started when we banned a user, who then posted about the ban on another sub with the intent to encourage others to brigade us. This was not surprising to us given Reddit’s history of discrimination against lesbian communities via catering to men. For this reason, we are on our own, and have to take extra steps to keep ourselves safe. These past few days have been immensely stressful to us, and we really appreciate all of your support. We're doing the best we can to keep lezconnect a safe space for all of our members to speak freely and have a lesbian space on reddit. With that being said, because this community is based on Reddit, we have to follow Reddit’s TOS or eventually be de-platformed. Reddit is not a safe space for any woman; doubly so if she is a member of a minority group. To that end we encourage you to prioritize your own and collective online safety. Please…
think before you post. If you write it, someone will read it, even on a private platform. Do with that what you will.
ignore the trolls (if any do manage to comment.) Downvote away, but do not engage at all. They are trying to provoke a reaction. Don’t give them it.
Remember that we’ve been putting a lot of new tools to use for this subreddit. If something looks off, we’re probably trying to fix it. We’re all pretty involved.
Thank you,
