Paid to get my cat taxidermied, now the business is ghosting me.

Spent $1400 on getting my cats bones cleaned at a business that seemed reputable (google reviews, brick & mortar shop). The place is a 2hr drive from me. I dropped my cat off in June, they tell me its going to take about 6months. I started trying to get in touch with them at the end of January for an update, I have called dozens of times, and sent a few emails. What are my next steps? I have not tried driving over there yet since its such a hike and the business is open by appointment, no set hours. Location: NJ.
