Ladies and Gentlemen, Worlds is Scripted Thematically Once Again. Here's Why.

Ok.
Ok Ok Ok.
What do we know guys, Worlds is scripted just as always and it lies in the worlds song.

THIS POST WILL HAVE 2 PARTS. WORLDS SONG, THEME, and RANDOM ASS EDG FACTS.

Just a disclaimer before I start to ramble about random ass details nobody would know or be interested about, I just want to say that this post is gonna be a long one. So if your one of those guys with a 4th grade reading skill and scans for TL;DR, you will have to practice your reading this time because I decided to be particularly mean this time. Anyway, lets look at shit that I didn't over-analyze for like 2 hours.

PART 1 - WORLDS SONG:

The worlds song is very thematic this year around, and I have to give it to Rito for not making it obvious this time until the finals have been completed. Lets start, and do keep in mind I won't analyze every single line.

"This ain't where the legends come from

You're not what a hero looks like

Pretty little flower, won't you sit back down and go play nice?"

- These 3 lines represent DK and Showmaker. Why? As we all know, many fans of the LCK were hyping things up as they believed that Damwon would win back 2 back worlds, forging the next dynasty after SKT. Sadly, this year was not the year for DK. Dropping to RNG at MSI and taken second place at worlds. They will not be the heroes for their region this year.

"So keep talking, keep laughing

One day you'll wish you hadn't

All the people want fire, fire

Maybe it's time they meet their dragon"

- This line represents EDG and the LPL this worlds. This is because LPL underperformed heavily in week 2 of the groups stage, leading them to being memed on. As a diehard LPL fan myself, I also was disheartened at seeing 2 teams not making it out of groups. However, despite these exaggerations, the LPL fought through all the talk and laughter, silencing them and making them eat their words. (Talking about you starguardianbard) Finally, the last line here represents the holder of the Silver Dragon cup this worlds, the LPL summer champions EDG. (Let's skip ahead a few lines)

"My, oh my, look at who ends up bigger this time"

- This line represents the surprise of people seeing how EDG "ended up bigger this time".

"This is where the bruises come from

This is when the game gets ugly

These blood, sweat, tears keep running

Licking my plate 'cause I'm so hungry"

- I'm not too sure on what this means, but in my opinion these lines represent how the only hopes of the LPL has to take each other out at quarterfinals. They each want the win so badly for their fans, and have put forth the "blood, sweat, tears" for making it through.

"It starts right now

Baby, you're surrounded"

- This is obvious. 1 LPL against 3 LCK at semis.

"Put your money where your mouth is

Bury your doubts under the ground"

- To put your money where your mouth is means to take action based on what you say. Both EDG and DK said they were gonna win. EDG said on Chinese forums and in interviews that they just wanted to win for the fans, and Showmaker said they would 3-0, with KKoma saying it would be a 3-1 for them. Both could make this statement true, but it was EDG in the end. EDG also makes the statement with their actions to bury the doubts of LPL fans beneath the ground.

"And they gonna watch you step over the ashes

Right now I'm taking my turn with the matches"

- EDG stepped over the ashes. Against all odds, they won worlds when everyone (outside of China) doubted them.

PART 2 - Thematics:

The theme/slogan of this worlds is Make/Break. In Chinese this is 不破/不立, which I personally would translate to: "No Breakthrough, no triumph" I believe that this theme also was very fitting as I believed many curses were broken this year as well as fulfilled.

Namely, the quarters curse of EDG was broken this year after 4 years not making it out of quarterfinals. By breaking this curse they were able to win worlds. However, DK's Khan did not break this curse and lost as 2nd place.

PART 3 - EDG Facts This Worlds

So, uh. In China, EDG is associated with the number 7, because Clearlove renamed to Clearlove7 and played pretty well when that happened. In this sense, anything that EDG does well is called "the will of 7" Here's a few things that pointed to EDG winning.

  • Worlds finals is on November 7th.
  • EDG as a team is 7 years old.
  • During the cinematic in Burn it all Down, when Jackeylove enters the building, you can see 777 on the wall.
  • Showmaker's age on November 7th is 7777 days.
  • The distance from Iceland to China is 7777km (Not too sure about this, google says 7773)
  • Viper's Jhin critted for 777 damage on the nexus during EDG's win vs DK in game 1.

So there you have it. My stupidly long post of how some team made by Edward won worlds.
