Father/Son - Father/Daughter Camps - Is this still a thing?

Hello:

In a prior ward, they would have a father/son camp in the spring and a father/daughter camp in the fall. This had been a tradition for many years.

One year, a few members complained wondering why only fathers were allowed to attend the camp -and that it should be more inclusive. The two camps were renamed parent/son and parent/daughter camp. Over time, these two camps fizzled out.

Lots of great memories were made at those camps and my children really looked forward to them. Hoping to start up something similar in my current ward, but hoping to avoid the stigma of being labeled sexist or not inclusive.

Are father/daughter and father/son camps still a thing these days in the church? Are they a good idea in this day an age? Any suggestions on how to avoid those labels and to at least have something for our youth that they can attend to build stronger ties with their father, father figures and friends?
