Snow Travel - 138 or 18

Traveling to Lake Arrowhead area on Thursday afternoon for the weekend. Given the weather warnings and planned snow, I’m wondering whether the 138 or 18 would be the best way in. I’ve driven both before, just not in the snow. I’ll have chains available if needed.
