I am lacking mentorship
Hello all, I am a student taking working in a research lab, for almost 6 months. Before that I worked in another lab for approximately 3 years. In my new lab it's a nice environment and all, but I find it hard to find mentorship. I am with a Graduate student , but to be honest when I ask him questions , either he doesn't know or gives me the wrong information ( because I look things up and its different form what he says). Any how , there's a potential that with in the next few months I will be given my own project independently and I feel confident on doing lab techniques, because I also around and try to learn as much as I can. But my genuine fear is that I will not be able to move the project forward because I don't receive enough mentorship on how to take a science project from start to finish. It is my goal to be good at this and actually make project(s) move forward. But not really sure know how. So mainly how can I improve my researching skills, thought process, writing ,and all the things that make a good scientist. If you have any material , books , videos , lectures whatever is needed , I will do in order to improve. Note: I noticed sometimes that the grad student I am paired up with in comparison to other grad students , is just not sure how to solve or think through problems sometimes( not always), and I can't mention to be switched to another mentor because I was assigned to that student.
TLDR: I am not receiving much mentorship in my current lab on how to move science projects forward , so I am coming here seeking resources in order to improve.
