NewJeans Files Objection to Court’s Provisional Injunction Restricting Independent

It has been confirmed that NewJeans, currently in an exclusive contract dispute with their agency ADOR, has filed an objection to the court’s provisional injunction decision prohibiting their independent activities.

According to legal circles on the 24th, all five NewJeans members submitted an objection to the Seoul Central District Court on the 21st, contesting the court’s ruling that fully upheld ADOR’s request for a provisional injunction to “preserve the agency’s status and prohibit the signing of advertising contracts.” If the objection is accepted, the same court division will review the case again.

Earlier, the Seoul Central District Court’s Civil Agreement Division 50 (Presiding Judge Kim Sang-hoon) ruled in favor of ADOR, granting their provisional injunction request to block NewJeans from independently engaging in entertainment activities or signing advertising deals. The court stated, “Based on the claims and evidence submitted thus far, it is difficult to conclude that ADOR has sufficiently proven a breach of key obligations under the exclusive contract.” With this decision, ADOR retains its status as the agency under the exclusive contract, while NewJeans faces restrictions on independent activities.

Shortly after the ruling, NewJeans’ parents, who manage the group’s social media accounts, posted: “We plan to contest the issues further through the objection process” and “We will supplement explanatory materials to the fullest extent to contest [the decision].”
