Teacher gift

I am the room mom for my child's Kinder class and the teachers birthday is this weekend. I am expected to ask the other parents for donations to buy her a gift. We were given a favorite things list to go off of for the gift and it's very gift card heavy, which seems impersonal to me. I figured with the 65 donated plus some of my own I would do a mug warmer coffee gift card and a mug maybe a throw or flowers and a card. The head of pta is now telling me gift cards are pretty much what's expected and that usually they have upwards of 200 donated for this. I feel like maybe I should return what I've purchased and just get a gift card either generic or to a restaurant. I don't really know what to do now. I have reached back out to the other parents and asked for their thoughts and suggestions based on what I have but we've had many students move away and parents that generally aren't very active. I don't have a lot to pitch in myself and I don't want to seem like I didn't put any effort into this.
