Can't update...

So as the title states I can't update my game. I can log in but when I go to the alliances tab it says I need to update. I click update and it takes me to the play store to update. At the play store it just says play instead of update and when I click it in hopes that it will start updating anyway, it takes me to log in for the game. Anyone experiencing the same issue? Am I missing something obvious that when I'm told what to do I hit myself in the head with a hammer? If I uninstall/reinstall will I lose my account? Help a brother out.
