$50k a year to have a "passenger"
There is an alien species that wants to experience life on Earth, but cannot physically come to Earth for whatever reason. They can, however, visit Earth by hanging out in a human mind as a "passenger".
The transfer process and the aliens' psychology is such that any given passenger will stay with a host for months or even years at a time. It is also such that they need willing hosts.
You are being offered the chance to become a host. If you accept, you will get $50,000 a year, tax-free. But, you will also get a passenger, and if you are a truly bad host, you will get kicked out of the program.
Most of the time, your passenger will simply be passively receiving whatever sensory input you are getting. But they will occasionally ask you questions or make comments, in your native language (in your head, no one else can hear them), and they will want an hour each night to do their own thing when you would otherwise be asleep. You will feel as though you were sleeping for the hour that they are doing what they are doing.
You will have a chance to meet with them for about an hour before you agree to host them, you will be given several passengers to choose from if the first one is unacceptable to you for whatever reason, and you can set reasonable ground rules about what they can do with your body and when they can talk to you and so forth.
But you do need to be a good host, and let them experience life on Earth to a reasonable degree. (I will be the final arbiter of this). If you don't, you will be kicked out of the program.
And they are all a little weird by human standards. Not sociopathic weird or anything, but they will probably want to do things like lick rocks, or finger paint with pudding. Probably a bit like having a particularly reasonable and intelligent toddler sharing a body with you.
And regardless of whatever rules you agree to, they will always be able to see what you are seeing, hear what you are hearing, and so on.
When your passenger wants to go home, you will need to spend a day at the transfer center, between the transfer(s) and the paperwork, but they will handle transportation and feed you very nice meals.
If you have serious problems with your passenger, you can send them home, though you will have to handle transportation and meals in that case, and if you do it too often, you will be dropped from the program.
The host program is a Known Thing, and you can choose whether or not to tell people that you're a host.
Would you do it? For how long? What kind of restrictions would you want? Any other thoughts? Discuss.
Edit: I'm getting a lot of questions about their "driving" time. It serves 3 purposes, only one of which actually requires them to be in control of your body.
Essentially the mental equivalent of stretching cramped muscles. They need at least a few minutes a day of this, and preferably at least half an hour. But this can be while they are sitting on your couch, if you aren't sure you trust them to do things safely.
The equivalent of answering their emails. Some would be 100% fine with letting you play secretary for them, though some of them are Very Important People who need to keep at least some of their business private. This could easily be done during the ~half hour they need for 1.
They're here to experience things that they can't at home. If you are willing to let them "back-seat drive" (ie. tell you what to do), this can be while you're awake for all but a few things.
