Drain pan filling very quickly

Hey gang,

We’ve got a 2.5 year old Carrier system in our attic and we’ve had issues with the drain pan filling up multiple times now. No drain line because the attic isn’t insulated and the line would freeze in the winter, according to the installer who also does our maintenance.

The first time was 2 years ago, the sensors didn’t cut the power and it flooded a bedroom ceiling below

Sensors work now and cut off on Tuesday. I was able to take 12 gallons out via wet vac and get it back running until they could come for a non emergency appointment this Friday, but it filled up again about an hour ago, so 48 hours after I pulled most of the water out. I just pulled another 12 gallons out and it’s running again.

Reading online, I’m seeing a lot about low refrigerant causing excessive condensation in the unit when it’s running a lot (massive heatwave amidst a drought for the past couple weeks). Would that be a fault in the unit or the installation?

What should we be asking/saying to make sure we don’t get taken for a ride tomorrow?
