"Paralyzed"

Sorry about the click bait title I couldn't think of a better one.

I was on /r/todayilearned yesterday and when I went to correct someone about the notion of Asian eyes, it exploded into something more. People began to, for lack of a better word, "harass" me about my answer and ask me other racist things (it's not the curious kind that might come off as "racist", one of them was literally: "Then why do you all drive so bad"). I blocked all inbox messages, but I've seen most of them. I'm having a hard time getting them out of my head and has left me in a state of shock, making it hard to go through the day since I/we tend to dwell on things. It's giving me a headache how thick skulled, insensitive, and ignorant people can be. For sure I will now never read and reply to popular Reddit comments, YouTube comments, etc. ever again. The lie method is helping a little bit, and knowing there's similar racist encounters (and sadly even worse) is easing me a little. Bottom line, I just would like some advice on how to let go/get over this mishap.

Thank you all, this subreddit has served as a refuge for me. I hope you have a nice day!
