Anything I can do to fix this?

long story short, decided to try to get a Cap from a dude who told me the condition was perfect, but what I got was just pleather peeling really bad especially on Cap’s shoulder straps

Any idea if theres a fix for this or would painting his strap work? He’s a pretty nice fig but it’s kinda bothering me on how the pleather is just flaking. I did try 303 Protectant to protect whats left of the pleather lol
