Raw milk opinions
Hi all. With there being so many members in this sub, I am hoping to get a broad array of perspectives on the subject of raw milk. It always seems to be a pretty hostile subject when I see it on Facebook or other boards, but I’m looking at it with a neutral point of view and just want some insight (politely discussed haha).
Some people argue that you should basically only drink raw milk and that pasteurized milk is why people are lactose intolerant and that getting diseases from it is rare and if you get it from a reliable source, it’s fine. They also argue there are more nutrients in raw milk.
The other side of the argument are usually people who get very upset because people have died because of the diseases that were spread before pasteurization and that drinking raw milk is basically ignoring all of the scientific developments that were made to make milk safe to drink.
I can see both points of view, but I’m not sure if one side is more true than the other. Is it common to get diseases from raw milk? Is it usually safe these days with having cleaner practices and more knowledge, or is it still an unnecessary risk and is pasteurized milk just as good?
Just curious of everyone’s opinion. :)
