I want/need an option for limited wars and partial victory
Hi folks.
I am currently doing a Soviet playthrough, Stalin path, and I crushed the Germans by 1941 with less than one million casualties. Soon after I decided that Finland could do with a liberation, but they joined the Allies and I got pulled into a war with the US, the UK, France, Italy, Turkey and Yugoslavia, and their puppets and pals (including the Benelux).
Fast forward to 1946, July: Almost two million Russians have perished in the Great Western Worker Liberation War, compared to the thirty million Allies. France, Italy, the Benelux, Turkey and Yugoslavia have capitulated. Both the US nor the UK have All Adults Serve and zero Manpower, having lost hundreds of divisions in the encirclements in France, Yugoslavia and the Benelux.
Now: Why the f*** can't I say "all right, let's call it a draw" to them? My men are tired and want to go home. I am the only state in the world with atomic bombs and I produce one a month (roughly), I outproduce and outgun my enemies. I would very much like to just... you know... Not have a war anymore. I want to demand a peace that isn't a total victory. You know, discuss peace terms. I only want to end campaigns with a peace and a new world order, not mid-war (even if they'll never win).
Essentially: Why can't I grind my enemies into submission? Why cannot partial victories or limited wars exist, why does every war need to end with me having to conquer everything? How could this be implemented?
For context: I like roleplaying (and achievement hunting), so I probably could roflstomp my enemies and conquer the world - but I don't want to. I want a partial victory without having to invade the UK once again.
