Hanoi food vs overseas
Currently in Hanoi and struggling to find the fresh and green stuff that I usually eat at Vietnamese eateries in Australia.
Banh Mi here is a lot more greasy and with very few veggies in. More like a panini.
Bun cha comes with a rich broth here and is more of a soup than a salad. In Australia it’s usually a salad served with sort of a fish sauce dressing. Or maybe this is called something different?
The spring rolls seems to be most fried here. Yet to see any fresh ones with shrimps and peanut sauce dripping.
Pho Xao also bit more wintery, indulgent meal.
Not saying any of these meals are better/worse, but maybe someone can educate me on if this is a Vietnamese regional difference, if it’s overseas having developed to suit western tastebuds (sorta like texmex) or if I have just visited the right restaurants (if that’s the case, please give me some pointers).
