Ripped floor in rental
So this happened. Happened while moving my bed (because moving). Also happened right before my move out inspection.
So for context: it looks like the full entire apartment floor is this vinyl material — just one sheet, so would that mean they have to replace ALL the floor in the full 600sqf apt to fix this?
Is this beyond normal wear and tear? I pushed my bed to the side of the room to make space for moving other items, I did not expect that to cause such a hole in the floor. I taped it down to keep it flat and not make it worse.
LL said he’s going to keep my damage deposit and then some extra because of this (also said he needs to withhold extra for cleaning and for our boxspring being left for garbage pick up). He told us it was our responsibility to call 311 and arrange for someone to pick up our boxspring but 311 told us that our boxspring does go where we put it for pick up. But apparently our LL needs extra $ because of it.
Has anyone ever been in a similar situation? And what ended up happening?
