How to get into research one semester before graduation?

I'm a senior doing undergrad studies and I want to get more research experience before I apply to grad schools next fall. I'm not currently in a lab and am unsure any professors will take me as a volunteer since I'm graduating in one semester. Also, I don't have meaningful experience doing research so I'm not sure if anybody would be willing to mentor me. Should I bother cold emailing professors to ask if I can join their lab as a research assistant?
